The Patriots are in no rush to sign a running back with Dion Lewis, James White, and Rex Burkhead all under contract.
Peterson joins a long list of veterans like LeGarrette Blount, Jamaal Charles, Rashad Jennings, Justin Forsett, James Starks, and DeAngelo Williams that might have to wait until after the 2017 NFL Draft for a contract; the upcoming draft is considered one of the deepest at the running back position in recent memory.
