The last time NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has visited the New England Patriots' Gillette Stadium was during the 2014 AFC Championship Game; a game that started the scandal/farce known as Deflategate. Goodell, who played a central role during the ensuing two-year legal battle, has not returned to Foxboro since.

Goodell was scheduled to return to Gillette Stadium this year – but not before the Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs kick off the new NFL season on September 7. It remains to be seen whether or not he will attend that game as well.
