The New England Patriots are traveling to face the Houston Texans for the second week of the 2017 NFL preseason. The teams are hosting joint practices at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, but the game will take place in Houston at the same stadium where the Patriots won Super Bowl LI.
The two teams square off in week 3 of the regular season so don’t expect either side to get too complicated with their game plans, but instead look for how the two teams integrate younger players into the starting lineup.
The Patriots have some young players in TE Jacob Hollister, WR Austin Carr, LB Harvey Langi, EDGE Derek Rivers, DL Adam Butler, and DL Josh Augusta that will likely see some time with the starters, just to see how they perform against and alongside the best players in the league.
QB Tom Brady should also make his preseason debut, alongside new acquisitions like RB Rex Burkhead, WR Brandin Cooks, and TE Dwayne Allen, but don’t expect TE Rob Gronkowski to play. On defense, we’ll get our first looks at LB David Harris and CB Stephon Gilmore.
