Patriots-Lions: Mike Gillislee scores a touchdown, two point conversion on first two touches

The former Buffalo Bills running back has had a pretty easy start to his Patriots career.

How about that New England Patriots come from behind 30-28 win over the Detroit Lions?!

The New England Patriots set up their players to succeed. RB Mike Gillislee is in his first game back since his hamstring injury and he’s scored 8 points on two touches- and that’s more touches than the Lions have made on the running back.

After RB James White brought the ball to the one-yard line (as he always does, without scoring), the Patriots brought out their goal line package with Gillislee in the backfield.

Gillislee followed some awesome blocks by FB James Develin, RG Shaq Mason, RT Marcus Cannon, and TE James O’Shaughnessy to reach the end zone untouched.

K Stephen Gostkowski connected on the extra point, but the Lions were lined up illegally and the Patriots opted to try and convert for two points, giving Gillislee his second touch of the day.

Gillislee again followed Develin, Cannon, Mason, O’Shaugnessy, and TE Rob Gronkowski to score the two points without the Lions getting a pinkie on his jersey.

The Patriots lead 21-0 and Gillislee has had a nice start to his New England career.
