Bill Belichick shows his support for Houston after Hurricane Harvey

New, comment

The Patriots head coach has a lot of connections to Houston.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick kicked off his post-game press conference by acknowledging the city of Houston, Texas and those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

“I want to give a little shout out to Houston,” Belichick said, while wearing a University of Houston hate. “We had a great experience down there in February, a lot of great relationships with the Texans and the University [of Houston] down there. We've got some players with some family down there, so we just want to let them know we're thinking about them.”

The Patriots just faced the Houston Texans in week two of the preseason and have many close connections with head coach Bill O’Brien, assistant head coach Romeo Crennel, defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel, special teams coordinator Larry Izzo, offensive coaching assistant Wes Welker, along with the father of Patriots own receivers coach Chad O’Shea; Mike O’Shea is the head athletic trainer at the University of Houston.

Patriots LB Elandon Roberts attended the University of Houston and OT Cameron Fleming is from Houston itself. There are numerous other players that come from Texas or attended school in Texas, like WR Danny Amendola, DT Malcom Brown, OT Marcus Cannon, and more.
