New England Patriots CB Cyrus Jones was providing great coverage down the sideline against the New York Giants when his right leg buckled and gave way. He went to the ground clutching his knee, much like how WR Julian Edelman went down in the previous week.
Jones left the game and it was expected to be a serious injury. Tests confirm that Jones tore his ACL and partially tore his meniscus, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
#Patriots CB and returner Cyrus Jones is out for the season with a torn ACL and partially torn meniscus, source said. Brutal.

Jones will be out for the rest of the season and will have an uphill battle to climb to prepare for his third season in the league. We wish him a speedy recovery.
The Patriots will move forward with Stephon Gilmore, Malcolm Butler, and Eric Rowe as the top three cornerbacks and with Justin Coleman and Jonathan Jones as the likely top back-ups. The team is still deciding which player will return punts after the loss of both Jones and Edelman.
Jones, Edelman, and rookie EDGE Derek Rivers have all suffered ACL injuries this offseason.
