Later today, the New England Patriots will play the New Orleans Saints in week two of the NFL's 2017 regular season. Leading up to the game, the team has made two moves yesterday evening: One was downgrading special teams ace Nate Ebner to “out” for the contest, the second was releasing a player from the practice squad.

The practice squad player in question is guard Willie Beavers, whose release creates an open spot on the 10-man practice squad. Beaver was originally signed by New England on September 4 and has been on the practice squad ever since. Before joining the Patriots, the 23-year old was with the Minnesota Vikings, who drafted him in the fourth round in 2016.

With Beavers gone, New England's practice squad currently looks like this:

WR Demarcus Ayers

DE Angelo Blackson

OC James Ferentz

DE Geneo Grissom

WR Cody Hollister

FS David Jones

CB Ryan Lewis

FS Damarius Travis

CB Jomal Wiltz

Considering the composition of the practice squad in relation to the current injury situation on the active roster, there do not appear to be any immediate needs to be filled through the open spot.
