New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick joined former QB Scott Zolak to preview the game against the Kansas City Chiefs and he dedicates his entire video to the strength of the Chiefs defense. The Patriots have been highlighting the Chiefs defense all week. You can watch the video here.
Belichick highlights the “great ball skills” of CB Marcus Peters and SS Eric Berry, while noting “it’s not just Peters and Eric Berry” making plays for the secondary- FS Ron Parker can also take advantage of any errant throw. As a whole, the Kansas City defensive backs are “very athletic, instinctive players, with good ball skills.”
The Patriots head coach then turns his focus to the defensive front seven of the Chiefs, showing how their aggression is able to re-set the line of scrimmage against some of the better teams in the league. Belichick notes that the Chiefs “get quite a few negative plays in the running game because of their penetration.”
Belichick runs through the list of Chiefs edge players and linebackers, but highlights EDGE Justin Houston as “one of the best pass rushers in the league,” and shows how LB Derrick Johnson uses his veteran savvy to pressure offensive lines.
