The New England Patriots are working out three players on Friday according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson. The Patriots are working out WR Jordan Payton, WR Marquess Wilson, and QB Thad Lewis. This is Lewis’ second workout with the team.
WR Jordan Payton
The Cleveland Browns drafted the 6’1, 216 pound Payton in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was suspended for the final four weeks of his rookie season for violating the league’s policy on PEDs. He has one reception for 3 yards.
Payton is UCLA’s career record holder in receptions with 201. He is not a slot receiver, but flashes a lot of yards after the catch ability with strong hands and blocking.
WR Marquess Wilson
The 6’4, 205 pound Wilson was a seventh round pick by the Chicago Bears in 2013. He played four seasons with the Bears, but was limited with injuries in his tenure. He broke his collar bone in 2014, his foot in 2015, and his foot again twice in 2016. He can’t be expected to remain healthy, but he has a ridiculous 6.65s three cone time that likely caught the Patriots attention.
Wilson has 777 career yards on 56 receptions.
QB Thad Lewis
The Patriots previously worked the 6’2, 220 pound Lewis out on Wednesday.
