New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon is coming off an excellent performance against the Chicago Bears, but prior production doesn’t prevent head coach Bill Belichick from enforcing team rules.
If a player is late, they lose playing time, simple as that. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Gordon has had an issue with arriving on time and he is “expected to be kept off the field for several series- about a quarter- as they continue to work with and manage him. It will be regular playing time after that.”
Sources: The #Patriots are disciplining WR Josh Gordon during tonight’s game vs. the #Bills because of tardiness. He’s expected to be kept off the field for several series — about a quarter — as they continue to work with & manage him. It’ll be regular playing time after that.

Gordon struggled with arriving on time when he was with the Cleveland Browns and he needs a support network as he overcomes his challenges. Hopefully Gordon will learn and grow from this experience- or else his time in New England will resemble that of Jonas Gray.
Update: Per The Athletic’s Jeff Howe and The Herald’s Kevin Duffy, Gordon was late to a meeting last week and was late as the team left Gillette Stadium to go to Buffalo.
