Week 5 Patriots vs Colts: Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Jacob Hollister are expected to play

It’s been a long time coming.

The New England Patriots have been waiting a long time for this moment: both tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Julian Edelman are expected to suit up and play against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported both stories.

The last time the Patriots had both Edelman and Gronkowski on the field at the same time was week 12 of the 2016 season, and the two players have only suited up at the same time for 19 of the past 60 games, including playoffs.

Edelman is returning from a 4-game suspension, while Gronkowski has battled an ankle injury the past couple of weeks. The two players will take some more time to get up to full speed, shaking off both rust and injury, but they should provide a nice boost to the New England offense that is also getting Josh Gordon and Sony Michel more involved.

EDIT: ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports that tight end Jacob Hollister is expected to play after missing the past two games with a chest injury. That’s another nice boost for the Patriots offense.
