The New England Patriots are looking really good against the Indianapolis Colts so far, jumping to an early 14-3 lead. However, the team has also suffered a pair of defensive injuries midway through the second quarter: First, defensive edge John Simon left the game due to a shoulder injury and has officially been announced as questionable to return.
Shortly afterwards, defensive tackle Malcom Brown stayed on the ground after linebacker Dont’a Hightower was blocked into his feet. The fourth-year man, who is scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason, walked off the field under his own power but straight into the blue medical tent erected on the sidelines.
After spending some time in the tent, it was off to the locker room for Brown to likely undergo some further testing. He is apparently dealing with a knee injury and it would not be a surprise if he was tagged as “questionable to return” as well.
[UPDATE] Brown returned to the sidelines and is probable to return. It looks like he and the Patriots dodged a bullet.
