The New England Patriots were absolutely, positively expected to beat the Tennessee Titans in week 10, but fell flat on their face before going into their bye week. Can they get back on track against the New York Jets?
All signs point to yes, but games in New York are always tough. Ever since Rex Ryan took over the Jets in 2009- and even as he’s out of the league- the Patriots have met their match on the road.
Think about this: New England is 9-1 against the Jets at home (with a disappointing 2010 divisional round defeat) with an average score of 29.3-15.9. That’s an extremely comfortable margin.
On the road, the Patriots are a mere 5-4, with an average score of 24.3-20.6. If you feel like the Patriots and Jets have a game every season that comes down to a last-minute stand by the New England defense, you wouldn’t be too off base.
So while the Patriots should theoretically win this game with ease, count on it being much, much more difficult.
