In only two days, the New England Patriots will host the New York Jets for the two teams’ regular season finale. Heading into the game, the Patriots are the healthier squad despite their injury report growing substantially today: a total of five players are now listed, four of which questionable to play on Sunday.
Out
Patriots: TE Jacob Hollister (hamstring; DNP)
Jets: CB Morris Claiborne (shoulder/ankle; DNP), WR Quincy Enunwa (ankle; DNP), WR Jermaine Kearse (Achilles; DNP), LB Kevin Pierre-Louis (shoulder; DNP)
For the second straight day, third-string tight end Jacob Hollister was absent from practice because of a hamstring injury. As a result, the 25-year old has been ruled out to play against the Jets — the seventh time this season that he will miss a game because of injury. The Jets, meanwhile, will be without starting cornerback Morris Claiborne and also miss their wide receivers number two and three.
Questionable
Patriots: TE Dwayne Allen (knee; LP), OT LaAdrian Waddle (illness; DNP) LB Brandon King (knee; LP), WR Cordarrelle Patterson (knee; LP)
Jets: LB Jordan Jenkins (ankle)
As mentioned above, the Patriots’ injury report grew today as a pair of offensive players was added. Dwayne Allen was limited during practice and is questionable to play against New York. With Jacob Hollister out and Allen again dealing with a knee issue — he already missed three games earlier this season because of a similar injury — the Patriots’ tight end depth chart might get tested on Sunday. New England also has Rob Gronkowski on their 53-man roster, and Stephen Anderson on their practice squad.
The team’s third offensive tackle — LaAdrian Waddle — is also a new addition to the list: he missed the session today altogether because of an illness and like Allen is listed as questionable for Sunday. Joining the duo in the group of questionables are special teams ace Brandon King and offensive weapon Cordarrelle Patterson. Both were again limited in practice today and will likely be game-time decisions.
