Time flies: In not even 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will play their final regular season game of 2018. As always, however, not all players on the team’s roster will be able to participate: per NFL rules, only 46 men are allowed to suit up and we now know who will not be among them for the Patriots when they play the New York Jets today.

Patriots inactives

TE Jacob Hollister

OL James Ferentz

DE Adrian Clayborn

CB Duke Dawson

SS Obi Melifonwu

DE Keionta Davis

WR Cordarrelle Patterson

Backup tight end Jacob Hollister is dealing with a hamstring injury and was already declared out for today’s game on Friday. Another player dealing with injury — one suffered last week — is Cordarrelle Patterson: the wide receiver will also be out today due to a knee injury that limited him in practice all week. In his place, Phillip Dorsett is expected to see plenty of snaps at wide receiver behind Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan.

The rest of the inactive players consist only of healthy scratches, with defensive edge Adrian Clayborn once again the most prominent member of the group. The free agency acquisition will miss his second straight game as the Patriots apparently prefer more well-rounded options against the run. One of which, it looks like, is Derek Rivers: the 2017 third-round draft pick is active again for the first time since week nine. Overall, it will be his sixth in-game appearance this season.

Of the five players listed on Friday’s final injury report only Hollister and Patterson will be inactive: special teams ace Brandon King, tight end Dwayne Allen, and backup offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle are all active.

Jets inactives

WR Jermaine Kearse

QB Davis Webb

CB Trumaine Johnson

DB Brandon Bryant

DL Destiny Vaeao

OT Eric Smith

DL Folorunso Fatukasi

The biggest name on the Jets’ inactives list is without a doubt cornerback Trumaine Johnson. The starter has reportedly been deactivated because he skipped practice sessions and meetings this week.
