With a few weeks left in the season and a few locks for the playoffs inside the AFC, it is never too early to take a look at Tom Brady’s career record and stats versus some of the teams that will be in his way to capturing a sixth Super Bowl win.
Kansas City Chiefs: 6-3 record (1-0 in playoffs): Let’s start with the Chiefs; one of the teams that may give the Patriots a run for their money in the AFC with the emergence of Patrick Mahomes. However, Brady already out-dueled him in a 43-40 shootout earlier this season. As for Brady’s record against the Chiefs in his career, he is 6-3 and winning his lone game versus them in the playoffs back in 2015.
Pittsburgh Steelers: 11-2 record (3-0 in playoffs): I’m sick and tired of hearing about how the Steelers are a threat to the Patriots (once again) in the AFC, when they haven’t beaten them in a meaningful game in almost two decades. The two teams will meet again next weekend as Tom Brady will look to improve to 9-2 versus Ben Roethlisberger in his career, too.
Houston Texans: 9-1 (2-0 in playoffs): The Texans may be the sleeping giant in the AFC as they are currently on a nine-game win streak after dropping the first three games of the season. However, Tom Brady has owned the Texans throughout his career and as long as the Patriots continue to take care of business, Houston would be coming to Foxboro again in January, in the freezing cold...
Los Angeles Chargers: 8-2 (2-0 in playoffs): Despite Philip Rivers being 0-7 in his career against Tom Brady, Rivers has turned in one of the best seasons of his career so far in 2018. Coming off a 16-point comeback win in Pittsburgh, the Chargers may shock some people in the playoffs this year, despite their 9-3 record. However, Tom Brady’s record speaks for itself especially since he hasn’t lost to the Chargers since 2005 when Drew Brees and the franchise were still in San Diego.
Baltimore Ravens: 8-3 (2-2 in playoffs): We all have memories of the Ravens breaking our hearts back in 2010 and 2012 and almost stealing a win in the 2011 AFC Championship game — or of blowing two separate two-touchdown leads in the 2014 divisional round. The Joe Flacco-led Ravens have proven they can come into New England and win in the playoffs, so I think I speak for most of Patriots Nation when I say: let’s just avoid playing Baltimore in any round this year if they get in.
