Former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will be taking a familiar face with him to the Indianapolis Colts and we’re not talking about special teams coordinator Joe Judge: According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Patriots quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski will join McDaniels in Indianapolis
Schuplinski originally joined the Patriots in 2013 and spent his first three seasons in New England as an offensive assistant. In 2016, he was promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach and has been credited as playing a big role in the team's 3-1 start that season as he helped prepare backups Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett during Tom Brady's four-game suspension.
Before joining the Patriots, Schuplinski was a college teammate of director of player personnel Nick Caserio, director of pro personnel Dave Ziegler and his new boss, Josh McDaniels, at John Carroll University. Now, he and McDaniels will take the next step in their coaching careers.
According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, McDaniels also wanted to have Brian Daboll on his staff, but Daboll “opted for [the] Bills for family reasons.”
