BREAKING: Patriots acquire DT Danny Shelton from the Cleveland Browns

The Patriots are reloading with some defensive reinforcements.

According to NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, the Patriots just swung a trade with the Madden-GM-mode Cleveland Browns for defensive tackle Danny Shelton for the price of...swapping some Day 2 and Day 3 draft picks.

No surprise that the mid-round pick New England is sending to Cleveland is for next year’s draft, since the Pats’ stash of mid-round draft picks in this year’s draft is looking a little bit like a bachelor’s refrigerator at the moment.

Danny Shelton’s a 6’2’’, 335-lb defensive tackle hailing from the University of Washington. The Cleveland Browns drafted him 12th overall back in the 2015 draft, and you may remember him as the guy that was so stoked that he bear-hugged Roger Goodell and lifted the commish clear off the ground. Career-wise, per Pro Football Reference, Shelton started 44 games for the Browns, notching 71 tackles, 57 assisted tackles, and 1.5 sacks.
