The New England Patriots selected Florida State tight end Ryan Izzo with the 250th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The 6’5, 256-pound Izzo has 761 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns over his four seasons at Florida State, including 20 catches for 317 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2017. He runs a meandering 4.94s 40 yard dash, but has an impressive 7.15s three cone drill- which might be more valuable for a Patriots tight end.
More importantly, Izzo is a great blocker and that’s how he’ll have to make his way on to the roster.
Izzo will compete with Dwayne Allen, Jacob Hollister, Will Tye, and Troy Niklas for what is likely two roster spots behind star tight end Rob Gronkowski.
The Patriots 2018 Draft Class is OL Isaiah Wynn, RB Sony Michel, CB Duke Dawson, LB Ja’Whaun Bentley, LB Christian Sam, QB Danny Etling, CB Keion Crossen, and TE Ryan Izzo.
