The New England Patriots added some depth to the tight end position by adding former Arizona Cardinals second rough pick Troy Niklas on a one-year deal, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
The Patriots worked out Niklas earlier this week.

The 6’6, 270 pound tight end was not very productive for the Cardinals, racking up just 203 yards and 3 touchdowns over his first four seasons. He suffered a season-ending ankle injury in his rookie season and missed time in 2016 with a wrist injury.
Niklas won’t be a threat to take time away from Rob Gronkowski, but he could certainly challenge Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister on the back end of the roster.
