Pro Football Focus released their top 200 rankings for the 2018 fantasy football season (PPR leagues) and there are plenty of New England Patriots on the list. I included their overall positional rankings, too.
18. Rob Gronkowski, TE1
Gronkowski is the top-ranked tight end in fantasy football, which aligns with reality. He’s given a second-round grade in these rankings, which sounds fair due to his injury history and the greater production upside of running backs and wide receivers.
51. Julian Edelman, WR23
Edelman is coming off a torn ACL and is considered a #2 wide receiver for your fantasy squad. He comes behind Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, which surprises me, and comes ahead of Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders, Browns WR Jarvis Landry, and Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones, which also surprises me.
65. Tom Brady, QB3
Brady ranks immediately behind Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (62nd) and Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (64th). This is also fair because Brady is rarely the most productive quarterback in a given season, despite his consistency as the best.
67. Sony Michel, RB31
Michel is a Flex option as the 31st-ranked running back. This is a lofty ranking as the Patriots running backs are often unreliable in fantasy football- and putting Michel atop the positional group highlights the huge expectations for the rookie.
80. Chris Hogan, WR34
Hogan should have a breakout year with Brandin Cooks in Los Angeles and Edelman returning from injury. Hogan was on pace for a 1,000-yard, 10-touchdown season before his injury and he should be able to replicate that production in 2018.
103. James White, RB37
154. Rex Burkhead, RB47
Over the past two years, White has averaged roughly 700 yards from scrimmage and 4 touchdowns. He’s a better running back in real life than in fantasy and I’m surprised he’s ranked above Burkhead, who has much greater upside in the Patriots offense as a potential red zone running back.
175. Stephen Gostkowski, K
Gostkowski is always good to be one of the most productive kickers in the NFL.
193. Jordan Matthews, WR69
Nice.
