Two weeks ago, the Patriots announced the signing of veteran offensive tackle Ulrick John to a one year contract. Last week, the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin provided more details on the agreement.
New Patriots OL Ulrick John has a $745k cash and cap number this year. $705k salary, $25k roster bonus, $15k workout bonus. Also a split salary of $433k if he lands on IR. So he’ll be fighting for a roster spot along with Tobin and Bowanko

The breakdown:
2018
Salary: $705,000
Roster bonus: $25,000
Workout bonus: $15,000
2018 Cap Figure: $745,000
Signing with his fifth organization since being selected by Indianapolis in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Georgia State Panther’s contract is very straight forward. None of his $705,000 minimum salary is guaranteed, but he does earn $40,000 in offseason cash. After the impending signings of the Patriots’ rookie class are finalized, John’s $745,000 cap hit will be the last to be counted in team’s top-51 calculation — assuming no other free agents are signed to larger deals.
The bare cupboard that was the Patriots’ tackle position two weeks ago is now close to fully stocked. On the depth chart, John slots well behind incumbent starter Marcus Cannon, 23rd overall pick Isaiah Wynn, LaAdrian Waddle, trade acquisition Trent Brown, and 2017 rookie Antonio Garcia, and will likely be fighting for training camp reps and preseason snaps with the likes of Matt Tobin and Cole Croston.
