In not even one month, the NFL’s most quiet time will come to an end: On Sunday, July 22, the first wave of New England Patriots players – the rookies – will report to the team’s 2018 training camp. Three days later, the veterans will join them before the team holds its first practice of this year’s camp on July 26.
Yesterday, New England announced a schedule for the first week of action:
July 26 | Practice Time - 9:15 AM
July 27 | Practice Time - 9:15 AM
July 28 | Practice Time - 9:15 AM
July 29 | Practice Time - 9:15 AM
*Gates will open at 8 AM each morning and the fan activities will remain open one (1) hour after practice ends.
*All Training Camp practice dates and times subject to change.
With training camp being a mandatory event, all players on the roster will be present for the four sessions unless they are a) rehabbing from injury, or b) unsigned draft picks. The team has only one remaining unsigned rookie – first-round running back Sony Michel, who is expected to reach a deal with the Patriots before the end of July – but a handful of players who are currently rehabbing from injury or offseason surgery.
Starting left guard Joe Thuney, slot cornerback Jonathan Jones, and wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell are all potential candidates to start camp on the physically unable to perform list. If not, they will join their teammates on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium – and in front of thousands of spectators – in a month from now.
