The New England Patriots start 2018 Training Camp and preseason this week, so Alec and Rich got together to preview the start of the upcoming season. There’s plenty to break down with various roster battles, but there is a clear opening on both sides of the ball worthy of additional focus.
On offense, the wide receiver position is completely unsettled. Julian Edelman is suspended for four games and there isn’t a guarantee to make the roster other than Chris Hogan (Matthew Slater doesn’t really count). The Patriots traditionally carry five non-Slater receivers on the team, so which four out of Kenny Britt, Phillip Dorsett, Jordan Matthews, Malcolm Mitchell, and Cordarrelle Patterson will make the team? Or will a Braxton Berrios surprise the world?
On defense, the focus will be on the cornerback position and the replacement of Malcolm Butler. Will Eric Rowe win the job that was presumed his until the Super Bowl? Or will Cyrus Jones or Jonathan Jones return from their injuries with a potential spot in the starting lineup? And don’t count out veteran Jason McCourty or rookies Duke Dawson and J.C. Jackson, either.
Alec and Rich cover it all. This podcast is available in the iTunes store, Stitcher, TuneIn, BluBrry, and via RSS Feed. Please subscribe and comment on what you want to hear about in future podcasts!
