Patriots waive a twin and sign an offensive lineman

We’re down to one twin!

NFL: Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots waived wide receiver Cody Hollister with a non-football injury distinction and signed offensive lineman Nate Theaker, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

Hollister spent last season on the practice squad and was a longshot to make the active roster. His twin, Jacob Hollister, is a favorite to make the team as a back-up to Rob Gronkowski at tight end. It’s possible we haven’t seen the last of Hollister, who could return when deemed healthy.

Theaker is a 6’5, 315 pound offensive lineman with experience at both guard and tackle. He was undrafted out of Wayne State in 2017, but spent time on the practice squad with both the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints last year and signed a futures contract with the Saints before his release early May 2018.
