The New England Patriots are in the process of setting their first 53-man roster and they will soon also be able to establish their practice squad.
Beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET today, the claiming deadline for players with less than four years of experience on their résumés has passed. Those players have been released over the last two days and are now subject to the waiver wire. Last year, New England lost an NFL-high four player through waivers. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET today, the Patriots will also be adding up to ten players who will serve both as a scout team for the regular season and as depth in case of injury. Most of their released players are potential candidates, like cornerback Cyrus Jones, defensive tackle Vincent Valentine, and quarterback Danny Etling.
