The NFL’s waiver pickup deadline has come and gone and there have been multiple moves: the New England Patriots themselves picked up a pair of wide receivers and saw three of their own players get claimed. Furthermore a fourth player was lost despite making it through waivers unselected. Ergo, the following four men are no longer with the Patriots:
P Corey Bojorquez: claimed by Buffalo Bills
CB Ryan Lewis: claimed by Buffalo Bills
SS A.J. Moore: claimed by Houston Texans
CB Cyrus Jones: signed to Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad
All four players were eligible to return to New England via the practice squad but none of them will be back.
The biggest name on the list is undoubtably Jones: the former second-round draft pick, who spent all of 2017 on injured reserve, was unable to earn a backup spot at cornerback thanks to the emergence of JC Jackson and Keion Crossen and was subsequently released. A bit surprisingly, he went unclaimed through the waiver wire and then opted to join his hometown team over the Patriots.
