2018 Patriots roster tracker: New England claims a pair of wide receivers

The Patriots have added depth to their receiving corps.

The New England Patriots entered today with just three pure wide receiver on their initial 53-man roster in Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson. Naturally, the team was in need to add more bodies – and it looks as if they did just that. As first reported by The MMQB’s Albert Breer, New England has claimed two wide receivers through the waiver wire:

New England claimed two receivers: ex-Jet Chad Hansen, and ex-Seahawk Amara Darboh.

Chad Hansen was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft. He appeared in 15 games over the course of his rookie campaign and caught nine passes for 94 yards as a rotational option. The 6’2, 200 lbs wideout failed to earn a spot on the team’s roster this year and was let go yesterday.

Amara Darboh also entered the NFL in 2017: he was drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks. The Michigan product appeared in all 16 of Seattle’s games last year and like Hansen was primarily a depth receiver that caught eight passes for 71 yards. Darboh also saw regular playing time on special teams.
