After both of their last Super Bowl victories – in 2014 and 2016 –, NFL Films produced a documentation focusing on the New England Patriots’ season and playoff run from the coaching staff’s perspective. No third installment of the series was made this year, courtesy of the team losing on the game’s biggest stage. However, the organization has decided to take matters into its own hands as it unveiled yesterday.
The team tweeted a short trailer for an upcoming series on the people working behind the scenes: the football operations staff. While not affiliated with NFL Films, the documentation will also carry the franchise’s organizational mantra as its name: Do Your Job. This third production named like that will premier on October 3 at noon, one day before the team’s Thursday night game against the visiting Indianapolis Colts.
As can be seen in the trailer, at least three people will be featured:
- College scouting coordinator Brian Smith, who has served in various positions within the team’s scouting department since 2000
- Director of scouting administration Nancy Meyer, who is the longest full-time employee on the Patriots’ staff and in her 44th season with the tam
- Head equipment manager Brenden Murphy, who worked his way up from ball boy (2008) to his current position (since 2016)
Do Your Job will be streamed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and patriots.com.
