After the New England Patriots went up 7-0 off an impressive opening drive, it did not take the Los Angeles Chargers long to fight back. A busted coverage by Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore allowed Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen to find the end zone on a wide open 43-yard touchdown reception. New England, however, responded in style.
The Patriots had another long touchdown drive, that saw a series of big plays being made by wide receiver Julian Edelman: the veteran registered catches of 14 and 28 yards to set up the second touchdown run of the day for first-round rookie Sony Michel:

Michel is playing a big role early on and at the end of the first quarter stands at nine runs for 43 yards and two scores as well as one 9-yard reception. Meanwhile, Julian Edelman and James White have carried the bulk of the passing offense: they caught 4 passes for 59 and 6 for 42, respectively. Tom Brady, meanwhile, is 11 of 14 for 110 yards.
