The New England Patriots are in the Final Four for the eighth-straight season, despite all of their relative “struggles” during the regular season. No one thinks the Patriots can’t win, but almost everyone outside of New England expects the Kansas City Chiefs to be victorious.
So how can the Patriots come out on top?
When New England is on defense, they’ll be facing the second-best offense of the past two decades (behind only the 2007 Patriots). Receivers Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce (yeah, he’s a receiver) are as a good of a 1-2 punch as any duo in the league, while running back Damien Williams has provided no drop off since Kareem Hunt was kicked from the team. When Sammy Watkins is the fourth option in the offense, the defense is going to have their hands full.
Alec and Rich break down projected match-ups and ways to for the Patriots to slow down the Chiefs offense.
When the Patriots are on offense, they’ll be playing both the Chiefs not-as-bad-as-their-stats defense and the homefield advantage, which is tough to overcome. Kansas City’s defense is one of the better squads in the league when they’re at home, so the Patriots can’t expect to put up 43 points again.
But there is a weakness in the middle of the Chiefs defense- and we expect New England to take advantage.
