The 2019 AFC Championship Game on Sunday was an epic showdown between two of the NFL’s heavyweights: the New England Patriots traveled to Kansas City to take on the top-seeded Chiefs in what would become a thriller. Ultimately, the visiting Patriots prevailed to take the game 37-31 in overtime and punch their third straight ticket to the Super Bowl.
Recently, the Patriots shared a sights and sounds clip from the game and it perfectly captures the raw emotion behind New England winning its NFL-record 11th conference championship:

The video starts with scenes of the players arriving to Arrowhead Stadium and getting warmed up before kickoff. “Everything we worked for, boys. Come out here and give it our all,” said tight end Rob Gronkowski when breaking down the huddle for his position group. “Trusting each other, loving each other, playing for each other tonight — that’s what it’s all about,” added defensive team captain Devin McCourty.
The game footage shows the Patriots building an early 14-0 lead, with the coaching staff praising the defense on the sideline for putting pressure on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. “That ball is loose, he’s flailing it around,” defensive line coach Brandon Daly told defenders about the second-year quarterback who is likely to be named league MVP next week. Mahomes indeed did fumble at the end of the first half, but recovered it himself.
Finally, the epic back-and-forth in the fourth quarter is shown as is the game-deciding overtime. “What more can you want than this?” quarterback Tom Brady asked his teammates before the final series. “Let’s go win this thing.” New England indeed did just that — and it was pandemonium afterwards.
