In not even 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will play their ffith game of the 2019 regular season, trying to improve their record to 5-0: the team will square off against the Washington Redskins who are entering today’s contest with an 0-4 record. Before getting ahead of ourselves, however, let’s take a look at the players on both sides who have been declared inactive and will therefore not participate in today’s contest:
Patriots inactives
RB Rex Burkhead
SS Patrick Chung
SS Nate Ebner
RB Damien Harris
OT Korey Cunningham
DT Byron Cowart
QB Cody Kessler
Three of the Patriots listed as inactive were already declared out prior to today: strong safety Patrick Chung, running back Rex Burkhead, and special teamer Nate Ebner were all downgraded from “questionable” to “out” on Saturday. Meanwhile, they are joined on the list of inactive players by rookies Damien Harris and Byron Cowart as well as depth offensive tackle Corey Cunningham and third-string quarterback Cody Kessler.
The two other players listed as “questionable” will be good to go, on the other hand: linebacker Dont’a Hightower is back after missing last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills because of a shoulder injury; wide receiver Julian Edelman — who is dealing with a chest injury suffered in Week 3 against the New York Jets — will also be active.
Redskins inactives
QB Case Keenum
LB Josh Harvey-Clemons
CB Aaron Colvin
OG Brandon Scherff
TE Vernon Davis
TE Jordan Reed
OC Ross Pierschbacher
The biggest name on the list of Washington’s inactives is quarterback Case Keenum, who is dealing with a foot injury. With him out, first-round rookie Dwayne Haskins Jr. will back up starter Colt McCoy. What the list of inactive players also shows is that wide receiver Terry McLaurin will play after being listed as “questionable” on Friday because of a hamstring issue.
