The New England Patriots reconvened for practice Wednesday without the participation of wide receivers Mohamed Sanu and Phillip Dorsett.
Sanu, listed with an ankle injury, and Dorsett, listed with a concussion, were the lone members of New England’s active roster to sit out. An additional six Patriots were limited as on-field work began for Week 12 versus the Dallas Cowboys.
Here’s the initial injury report ahead of Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
- Patriots: WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle), WR Phillip Dorsett (concussion)
- Cowboys: OT La’el Collins (knee/back), LB Joe Thomas (illness)
Sanu played 55 percent of the offensive snaps last weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles, staying in to handle punt returns in the absence of undrafted rookie Gunner Olszewski. And Olszewski was placed on injured reserve Tuesday as the corresponding move to New England activating left tackle Isaiah Wynn. As for Dorsett, he exited with a concussion following his 15-yard, double-pass touchdown catch at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Cowboys also had a roster of 51 for Wednesday’s session. Collins has started all but one game this season for the Dallas offensive line, while Thomas ranks second on the special teams in snaps.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: RB Damien Harris (hamstring), WR Julian Edelman (shoulder), DE John Simon (elbow), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee), S Patrick Chung (heel/chest), S Nate Ebner (ankle/back)
- Cowboys: G Zack Martin (back/ankle/elbow), G Connor Williams (knee), DT Antwaun Woods (shoulder)
The Patriots downgraded Harris and Chung from questionable to out before the Saturday flight to Philadelphia. But the rookie running back and the veteran safety were among those practicing in a limited capacity for New England on Wednesday. New additions to the limited group would be Edelman and Bentley. The wideout and linebacker are dealing with shoulder and knee injuries, respectively.
Three Cowboys practiced in a partial capacity to open the week, including Martin, the perennial All-Pro guard.
FULL PARTICIPATION
- Patriots: no players listed
- Cowboys: WR Amari Cooper (knee), DE DeMarcus Lawrence (neck), S Jeff Heath (shoulder)
Cooper worked through a knee injury to catch three passes for 38 yards in the Cowboys’ 35-27 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 11. The three-time Pro Bowl wideout proceeded to work in a full practice on Wednesday.
The same went for a pair of Cowboys on the defensive side of the ball. Lawrence has tallied 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles off the edge this fall. And in Dallas the secondary, Heath missed his first start of the campaign last weekend because of a shoulder injury.
