The New England Patriots began preparations for the Dallas Cowboys with a practice squad of seven.
That number climbed to eight on Wednesday with the signing of wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo.
Entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Adeboyejo spent his rookie season between the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad and active roster, appearing in the finale to record 21 snaps on offense and 17 on special teams. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Ole Miss product was placed on physically unable to perform prior to the start of the 2018 campaign, and was waived by Baltimore as training camp commenced in July.
Adeboyejo, 24, finished the 2019 preseason with the New York Jets and worked out for the Patriots last month.
New England’s scout team has remained under its 10-man limit since the calendar turned to November. Safety Obi Melifonwu’s placement on the injured list last Saturday opened the most recent spot, now occupied by Adeboyejo.
Adeboyejo joins a group on the Gillette Stadium backfields that includes fellow wideout Devin Ross, along with offensive linemen Najee Toran and Tyler Gauthier, defensive lineman Nick Thurman, linebackers Calvin Munson and Terez Hall, as well as cornerback Nate Brooks.
