For the New England Patriots, Week 12 of the regular season will not start until Sunday: the 9-1 team will host the Dallas Cowboys at Gillette Stadium. The week does, however, already start today with a game between two AFC South rivals — one of which being the Patriots’ Week 13 opponent. So what does this mean for the Patriots? And who should their fans root for? Let’s find out:
Indianapolis Colts (6-4) at Houston Texans (6-4)
When: 8:20 p.m. ET
Where: NRG Stadium, Houston TX
Television: Fox, NFL Network
Live streaming: fuboTV (sign up here)
Patriots rooting guide: Go Texans! The winner of tonight’s game has a huge advantage in the race for the AFC South title, and Patriots fans should therefore hope that the home team comes away victoriously — not just because the Colts are lining up on the other side. After all, New England will play the Texans next week and could put further distance between itself and a direct playoff opponent by winning that game. Indianapolis, meanwhile, is not on the world champions’ schedule this year and other more vague tiebreakers would determine potential playoff seeding between the two clubs in the unlikely case it became relevant.
