“I’m not going to sit here and try to Ouija board it this morning,” Bill Belichick said during his Friday press conference.
But the status of New England Patriots wide receivers Mohamed Sanu and Phillip Dorsett became slightly more definitive in the afternoon. Sanu, who hadn’t participated in the initial two practices of the week due to an ankle injury, returned as limited for the third. And Dorsett, who suffered a concussion in New England’s Week 11 win over Philadelphia Eagles, got in a second-straight limited session.
They are among a dozen Patriots listed as questionable to play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
Here’s the final injury report for the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.
OUT
- Patriots: no players listed
- Cowboys: LB Leighton Vander Esch (neck)
It remains up in the air for the Patriots at wideout, but the aforementioned Sanu and Dorsett avoided being ruled out for now. Rookies N’Keal Harry and Jakobi Meyers could see an uptick in snaps even so.
Vander Esch did not appear on the Cowboys’ injury report until Friday. The reigning Pro Bowl linebacker underwent an MRI after experiencing symptoms in practice the day prior. A neck injury had also sidelined Vander Esch for Dallas’ Nov. 4 matchup with the New York Giants.
QUESTIONABLE
- Patriots: QB Tom Brady (right elbow), RB Damien Harris (hamstring), WR Mohamed Sanu (ankle), WR Phillip Dorsett (concussion), WR Julian Edelman (shoulder), WR Matthew Slater (hamstring), OT Marcus Cannon (illness), DE John Simon (elbow), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee), CB Jason McCourty (groin), S Patrick Chung (heel/chest), S Nate Ebner (ankle/back)
- Cowboys: G Connor Williams (knee), LB Joe Thomas (illness), S Donovan Wilson (illness)
It was a growing list of limited participants for the Patriots. Added to the injury report to close the work week were Brady, Slater, Cannon and McCourty. And all but Cannon were spotted by reporters during the open portion of Friday’s practice. New England’s tenured right tackle is battling an illness.
For Dallas, three are questionable for Sunday’s meeting in Foxborough. Thomas and Wilson continued their illness-related absences from practice. As for Williams, the second-year guard out of Texas continued to practice in a limited capacity. The Cowboys removed fellow starting offensive linemen La’el Collins and Zack Martin from the Week 12 injury report.
