In not even 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will play their ninth game of the 2019 regular season, trying to improve their record to 9-0: the team will square off against the Baltimore Ravens on the road who are entering today’s contest with a 5-2 record. Before getting ahead of ourselves, however, let’s take a look at the players on both sides who have been declared inactive and will therefore not participate in today’s contest:
Patriots inactives
QB Cody Kessler
RB Damien Harris
WR N’Keal Harry
WR Gunner Olszewski
TE Matt LaCosse
OT Korey Cunningham
CB Joejuan Williams
New England entered the weekend with eight players listed as questionable on the injury report. One of them, Matt LaCosse, was already ruled out on Saturday after not making the trip to Baltimore — the third straight game and fifth overall this season that LaCosse will have missed. Luckily for the Patriots, fellow tight end Ryan Izzo is back on the list of active players tonight after having missed two straight contests because of a concussion.
The biggest name on the list of inactive players, however, is wide receiver N’Keal Harry. The Patriots’ first-round draft pick was activated to the 53-man roster from injured reserve on Saturday, but is apparently not yet ready to play in a game. Him and fellow rookie Gunner Olszewski, who is dealing with ankle and hamstring injuries, being out leaves the team short at the wide receiver position as only four players at the position will be active.
The other players listed as inactive are all healthy scratches, meanwhile. This, in turn, also means that six of the eight questionable players are ready to go: the aforementioned Izzo (concussion) as well as running backs James White (toe) and Rex Burkhead (foot), wide receiver Julian Edelman (chest/shoulder), guard Shaq Mason (ankle), and safety Patrick Chung (heel/chest). Mason, of course, is back after having missed last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
Ravens inactives
QB Trace McSorley
WR Jaleel Scott
CB Maurice Canady
OG Ben Powers
DT Daylon Mack
DT Zach Sieler
DT Ufomba Kamalu
Only one of the Ravens’ inactives — a list that includes ex-Patriot Ufomba Kamalu — was listed on the injury report on Friday: Maurice Canady will miss the game because of a thigh injury. Other than that, Baltimore is in good physical condition heading into tonight’s game.
