The New England Patriots’ practice squad now includes three openings.

The Miami Dolphins announced the 53-man roster addition of rookie defensive back Nate Brooks on Tuesday, as reported by Mike Reiss of ESPN.

The Patriots had signed Brooks, 23, to the practice squad in September. The 6-foot, 180-pound North Texas product originally entered the league last spring as an Arizona Cardinals undrafted free agent.

Brooks’ preseason audition in Arizona included 14 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.

Among Miami’s corresponding moves Tuesday, the organization placed fellow former Patriots cornerbacks Ken Webster and Ryan Lewis on injured reserve.

Brooks is the second exit from New England’s practice squad in as many days, with offensive lineman Tyler Gauthier previously agreeing to join the active roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The remaining scout team in Foxborough includes wide receivers Quincy Adeboyejo and Devin Ross, guard Najee Toran, defensive linemen Nick Thurman and Tashawn Bower, along with linebackers Calvin Munson and Terez Hall.
