In not even 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will play their 15th game of the 2019 regular season, trying to improve their record to 12-3: the reigning world champions will square off against a Buffalo Bills team that is entering today’s contest with a 10-4 record. Before getting ahead of ourselves, however, let’s take a look at the players on both sides who have been declared inactive and will therefore not participate in today’s contest:
Patriots inactives
CB Jonathan Jones
QB Cody Kessler
DT Byron Cowart
OG Jermaine Eluemunor
RB Damien Harris
TE Ryan Izzo
OT Korey Cunningham
The Patriots entered the weekend with five players listed on their injury report. One of them — cornerback Jonathan Jones, who missed all three practices this week because of a groin injury — was already ruled out to participate in today’s game, with four others being listed as questionable: wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee/shoulder), linebackers Jamie Collins (shoulder) and Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee), and cornerback Jason McCourty (groin).
Luckily for the Patriots, all four of the questionables are ready to go. This also means that McCourty returns to the lineup after being inactive in three of the last four games. While it remains to be seen just how much action he sees — he played a mere four snaps in his last game, Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs — and whether or not rookie Joejuan Williams gets a bigger role, having McCourty available certainly is good news.
The rest of the inactives are no surprise, meanwhile, and little more than depth players at this point in time.
Bills inactives
RB T.J. Yeldon
OT Ty Nsekhe
TE Tommy Sweeney
DB Dean Marlowe
WR Duke Williams
DT Vincent Taylor
OG Ike Boettger
On the Bills’ side, meanwhile, there are no surprises: with the exception of Nsekhe, all the inactives are depth options. Defensive tackle Corey Liuget, meanwhile, will play after being listed as questionable on Thursday.
