The last practice of December included an active roster of 52 for the New England Patriots.
Defensive end Shilique Calhoun, battling an illness, remained the lone absence as New England worked inside Gillette Stadium on Friday. An additional six Patriots remained limited participants, and safety Terrence Brooks joined that capacity due to a groin injury.
All are listed as questionable for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff versus the Miami Dolphins.
Here’s the regular season’s final injury report.
OUT
- Patriots: no players listed
- Dolphins: CB Jomal Wiltz (shoulder)
While the aforementioned Calhoun has missed two consecutive practices, no player on New England’s side of the aisle has been ruled out for the AFC East meeting.
As for Miami’s side, Wiltz will not be active against his former team. The cornerback, who spent the entirety of the 2017 and 2018 seasons on the Patriots’ practice squad, did not practice this week due to a shoulder injury. Wiltz has started six games in the Miami secondary while totaling 58 tackles and his first career interception.
QUESTIONABLE
- Patriots: WR Julian Edelman (knee/shoulder), OT Marcus Cannon (ankle), DE Shilique Calhoun (illness), LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee), LB Jamie Collins (shoulder), CB Jason McCourty (groin), CB Jonathan Jones (groin), S Terrence Brooks (groin)
- Dolphins: WR Allen Hurns (ankle/neck), DT Zach Sieler (ankle/thumb), DT Christian Wilkins (ankle), DE Taco Charlton (ankle), LB Vince Biegel (elbow)
Of New England’s eight questionable, all but Jones played in last Saturday’s divisional clincher against the Buffalo Bills. The starting nickelback had been ruled out leading up to Week 16 due to a groin injury, while McCourty exited the corner depth chart after four snaps due to a lingering groin injury of his own. Brooks now joins the 50-50 after practicing without an injury designation until the groin issue surfaced Friday. The safety and core special-teamer has logged 24 tackles and one interception since signing with the Patriots last March, playing 274 snaps on defense and 177 snaps in the kicking game.
Miami’s handful of questionable all remained limited during the final practice of 2019, but linebackers Jerome Baker and Andrew Van Ginkle were removed from the injury report after graduating to full participation.
