The NFL calendar turns fast. We are not even three weeks removed from the New England Patriots’ victory in Super Bowl 53, but already well on our way towards free agency which . will start on March 13. Still, every now and then a look back can be taken on the season that was — one that ended in triumph for the Patriots and their quarterback, Tom Brady.

The greatest of all time secured his record-setting sixth championship, and on the way to getting there made some truly spectacular throws as the following list compiled by the NFL’s official Twitter account shows:

While plenty stands out from the three-minute clip — Brady’s ability to throw pin-point passes when under pressure, his touch on the deep ball, his trust in receivers to make plays — one thing in particular catches the eye: how often Rob Gronkowski is featured. Of Brady’s top 10 passes according to the NFL’s social team, six went to the tight end; among them the top-ranked 29-yarder in Super Bowl 53 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Statistically speaking, 2018 can be classified as a down year for Gronkowski: dealing with back and ankle injuries during much of the regular season, the 29-year old finished with 47 catches for 682 yards and only three touchdowns. However, as can be seen above, he still made plenty of big plays when the Patriots needed him to. On top of that, the future Hall of Famer was yet again the NFL’s best blocking tight end.

That he is still able to challenge defenses became clear in the postseason: Gronkowski had very good games against both the Kansas City Chiefs and the aforementioned Rams, as two of the big plays featured in the clip above illustrate.
