Patriots win Super Bowl 53, beat Rams 13-3

New England has another championship.

NFL: Super Bowl LIII-New England Patriots vs Los Angeles Rams Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots have won Super Bowl 53 by beating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in what was a defensive slugfest for most of the night. The game started as slowly, with neither offense able to generate much momentum. After New England took a 3-0 lead into the locker room at the half, the Rams tied the game in the third quarter.

However, the final period saw the Patriots take a 10-3 lead and aided by a big interception by Stephon Gilmore were able to put even more pressure on Los Angeles with a field goal inside the two-minute warning. The Rams were unable to come back from the deficit and the Patriots now able to celebrate their sixth title, tying the Pittsburgh Steelers for most ever.

We will have plenty of postgame coverage here at Pats Pulpit, but for now let’s just say this: New England, after an inconsistent regular season went on a roll in the postseason behind a stingy defense and an efficient offense — even though it was not at his best for most of the Super Bowl. Still, the Patriots made the plays when they needed to and can now call themselves world champions once again.
