The first wave of free agency is behind us and the latest episode of the Patriot Nation Podcast takes a look at all the action: from the early losses of star defender Trey Flowers and Trent Brown — what they mean for the team and how both of them can be replaced — to the latest flurry of moves, including five free agency acquisitions on Thursday. This approach, of course, is a familiar one for the team.

“They stay back, they go bargain shopping on day three,” Pat said during the episode when discussing the New England Patriots’ plan when it comes to tackling the free agency market — one that could also see some trades happening soon; at the latest when the draft starts rolling around in one month. “I’m guaranteeing they make at least one deal in the draft, they always do.”

Speaking of the draft, Pat and Spags also continue their offseason series of breaking down draft prospects. The two take a look at the tight end class this week, highlighting Iowa’s Noah Fant, Alabama’s Irv Smith Jr, UCLA’s Caleb Wilson, and Josh Oliver of San Jose State — all of them potential candidates for the Patriots, no matter where they ultimately end up targeting the position (if they do, that is).
