Based on the votes in the first round of the Pats Madness tournament, here are the sweet 16 of the bracket’s Brady and Gronk regions.

#1 vs #8 - Super Bowl 51 vs 2003 at Indianapolis

All four of the five seeds won in the first round, but it’s hard to imagine any of them moving on from there. The matchup between Super Bowl 51 and the 2003 game in Indianapolis looks to be a bloodbath: a great regular season game against the Colts, ending a fantastic goal line stand, might’ve been enough to knock off Tom Brady’s first career comeback in the first round, but it won’t be enough to get by his best.

#3 vs #2 - 2006 Divisional Round at San Diego vs 2014 Divisional Round vs Baltimore

Two Divisional Round matchups meet in the second round — and two iconic Patriots plays: the Troy Brown strip, and the Double Pass from Julian Edelman to Danny Amendola. The 2006 playoff game against the Chargers was a great one, but I have a hard time believing it takes down a game where the Patriots trailed by 14 points twice. Probably the best play that everyone forgets is the 23-yard dime that Tom Brady threw to Brandon LaFell to take the lead late in the fourth period.

#1 vs #5 - Super Bowl 49 vs 2003 AFCCG vs Indianapolis

Holding the best offense in football to only three points is fantastic. When Peyton Manning is the quarterback, it’s even better. And when it’s in the playoffs, it makes for an extremely memorable win. The problem is, it’s going against a game during which the Patriots completed the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history at the time, against one of the best defenses the NFL has ever seen. Then there’s the Malcolm Butler interception to top it off. Super Bowl 49 is a wagon, take the over.

#3 vs #2 - The Tuck Rule vs Super Bowl 39

One of the most forgettable Super Bowl wins (hahaha!) in New England’s run of excellence against one of the most iconic plays in NFL history. The Tuck Rule is amazing, and it’s a game that is partially responsible for this dynasty. The only question: is it good enough to take down a Super Bowl win? The only ones qualified to answer that question is you. Choose wisely.
