The Final Four of Pats Madness — our tournament to find the bast game of the New England Patriots’ Brady/Belichick dynasty — is finally here! The four remaining games now all have a shot at the title, and it’s going to be tough choices ahead for everyone.

With only four games left, we’re down to just Super Bowls. Three of the four matchups last week were blowouts, and the one that wasn’t was the closest vote of the tournament. The matchup between Super Bowls 38 vs 53 was decided by only two votes. It was a tough loss for 38, but 53 earned its spot in the Final Four.

Let’s get into it.

Super Bowl 51 (#1) vs Super Bowl 49 (#1)

This is the matchup I’ve been waiting for. The two greatest comebacks in Super Bowl history in a cage match to the death. 49 is the game that brought the dynasty back: after a ten-year “drought” the Patriots would finally win the Super Bowl again, and it would end on the greatest play in NFL history. 51, on the other hand, is the most improbable win in the history of the sport. Down 25 points, and looking completely dead, the Patriots went on to score 31 unanswered points, including two two-point conversions, and a bushel of huge plays. The Julian Edelman catch, the Dont’a Hightower strip sack, the Trey Flowers sack, and the third down completion to Chris Hogan are just a few of them. Best of luck choosing between these two, because I don’t see how it’s going to be possible.

Super Bowl 36 (#1) vs Super Bowl 53 (#2)

The Rams matchup. The first Super Bowl against the most recent Super Bowl. #1 vs #6. Super Bowl 36 was the first time. The Ty Law pick-six, The Drive, and the call by Gil Santos that sends chills down my spine, even today. You would think nothing could top that, but then they shut down the number offense in the league again this year, this time for the whole game. And they had the final two drives in the fourth quarter, connected by the Stephon Gilmore pick. It’s the championship that started the dynasty against the championship that got Bill Belichick and Tom Brady their sixth ring. Will Rob Gronkowski retiring sway your decision? I know which way I’m voting, but I’m not telling. Let’s see who agrees with me.
