In honor of the 20th anniversary of the DVD classic Office Space, please appreciate this extremely underrated scene where Tom Smykowski tells the guys that all you need is an idea that’s *just* good enough to convince people to give you their money. Like the Pet Rock!
Editor’s Note: if you’re one of the many, many Patriots fans who hasn’t been on this planet long enough to see a losing season, just google “Pet Rock” sometime.
Speaking of those fans who literally have never seen a losing season, let’s put it this way: the Miami Miracle for all of us, regardless of how old we are, is gonna be a 30-second clip in the 2018 Patriots episode of “America’s Game”, and basically never anything else. Was it a kick in the peas & carrots at the time? Sure. In terms of the 5 L’s the Patriots took in 2018, though, where does this one rank? I mean, losing on a freak gasoline fight accident on special teams is one thing, but I’d argue that the Lions loss, the Titans loss, the Steelers loss, and of course, the AFC Championship rematch-turned-Stone-Cold-Stunner with the Jags were all far more demoralizing than some Madden-type “wait...dafuq just happened?” special teams foolishness with Gronk playing...nevermind.
Fortunately, if you’re a Phins fan trying to remember the peak of the Adam Gase era, there’s still plenty of commemorative merch to celebrate, assuming you’ve got the bucks that’d get you a couple large pizzas - Miami Miracle t-shirts at NFL.com can be all yours for the low, low price of $27.99 + tax!

Ooooooh, and free shipping! Shut up and take my money!
(For what it’s worth, those player name & number shirsey things are $35, so, yeah, there’s that)
Now dare I say, even the saltiest of Patriots fans can at least respect the Philly Special, whether it’s on a shirt or a hoodie or you’re one of the people that went ahead and did this...
Meet Dan...the Eagles fan who got “The Philly Special” play as a tattoo!!

That was an all-time game-changing Super Bowl play-call! The big brass ones on Doug Pederson to call a trick play on 4th down that they’d never called in a game before against the mighty and hated Patriots, right? It’s timeless.
This one, though? It’s one game in the regular season that ended up as one of the 7 wins Miami tallied on the season and also ended up getting Adam Gase demoted to coaching the Jets. Was it cool? Sure, if you’re a Dolphins fan and/or seeing the Patriots lose gets your motor going more than your own team winning, and god knows there’s plenty of those people. Was it cool enough that people were even still talking about it by Christmas last year? Again, only if you have a framed Marino jersey or do that thing when you say you’re from Miami, but you’re actually from Fort Lauderdale.
Or to sum that up another way, like a wise man once said, “Look, it’s the National Football League. Nobody died.”

Nah, I’m good.
