2019 - Going to be a really fun year

There are a lot of question marks going into the season for sure. Who the heck will make up the Defensive coaching staff is a big one, who will be the starting TE is another.

But its hard not to see a lot of things to like heading into this season.

First there is what is going on in the Division. The Jets, Dolphins and Bills are all doing major rebuilds this season, unproven QBs, jostled rosters, new coaches... there is only one team with playoff potential in the AFC East... the Patriots.

Its nice to go into the season knowing your team is a lock for the playoffs, unless some end of the world event happens.

Then there is the schedule, sure there are a couple tough games in there (IE - KC) but the Steelers are a mess, the Ravens could be a mess, the Division is a mess... we are talking what could be a season with only two games that even challenge them. They could have a 14-2 season no problem this year.

I love this draft. I know most don't remember me, but I used to write about the Patriots, a lot.

This draft, this group of young men, are as solid as any draft the Pats have had under BB. This is the 2010 Draft of talent, without the headaches, all these young men appear to be 'football first' players, and are going to be leaders on this team, not distractions.

In addition, I expect it will be easy pickings on the back-end for BB to find that one extra player that makes the difference for the season, he has a knack for being able to get Aqib Talib or Kyle Van Noy trades done when they need them, this year is looking like it will be the same.

In the wings, there are a couple of 'feel good' stories in the making... Josh Gordon, Demaryius Thomas, Rob Gronkowski, plenty of potential for late season arrivals that can have a major impact for the team.

There will be new coaches and new players that this team will lean on, but this feels more like new blood that brings in fresh legs and fresh ideas. A far cry from how 2005 felt, when Romeo, Charlie, and a handful of players departed and it felt like the team was going to have some rebuilding pains ahead.

This feels like a season where the Patriots have to keep themselves healthy, and save themselves for the post season, and from there its a one game season, which they are as good at as anyone.

It will be a fun year to be a Patriots fan.
