Skipper — a 2017 undrafted free agent from Arkansas — had as good of an opportunity as one could hope for, given his status as a roster long-shot in training camp, but the acquisition of swing tackle Korey Cunningham from the Arizona Cardinals this week ultimately showed that the Patriots felt an upgrade was necessary at the position.
The move now leaves starters Isaiah Wynn and Marcus Cannon, as well as the aforementioned Cunningham and Cole Croston, as the remaining tackles on the roster, with rookie Yodny Cajuste likely headed for the Reserve NFI list.
Skipper does have practice squad eligibility.
