The New England Patriots have waived defensive lineman Nick Thurman as the road to 53 continues, Nick Underhill of The Athletic first reported.
Thurman, a second-year pro who signed with New England following April’s NFL draft, is expected to be in consideration for a spot on the team’s practice squad.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Houston Cougars product originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018, and spent time with the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before landing in Foxborough.
Thurman appeared in all four preseason games for New England this August. From defensive tackle to defensive end, the 24-year-old posted seven tackles and a half-sack.
The NFL roster deadline is set for 4 p.m. ET Saturday.
